Helen grew up in San Francisco and graduated from University of California at Berkeley where she studied Archaeology. After participating in two excavations, one in Cape Town, South Africa and the other in Fort Ross, California, she decided to pursue a different career path. Helen spent 13 years at the San Francisco Chronicle as a Telecommunications Analyst and System Administrator as an employee and later as a contractor before exploring other industries. She also had a short-lived career as a catering coordinator and a baker. In 2021, Helen joined the City & County of San Francisco at the Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and then DCYF a year later. When not working, Helen likes to travel, hike, and spend time with friends and family.
